Disturbing the peace infraction

I am not sure how strict they are about misdemeanors on your record. Best way to figure out would be call or email the admissions office of a few schools and ask them.

Fortunately it's not a misdemeanor, the conviction is an infraction. I emailed them today and she said she's not sure how it effects matriculation, it all depends on the University officials. God I hope I am ok.

I'm sure you'll be fine

A few years ago I was charged with a misdemeanor for shoplifting (got involved with dumb people and made dumb mistake). I hired a lawyer who got the charges down to a "disturbing the peace" infraction, which I then was convicted of.

Am I going to have a problem during my dental school background check? I was Never convicted of the misdemeanor, only the infraction. It was my first and only offense.
Yes it will show up in your background check. Schools may or may not rescind your acceptance, depending on the type and severity of the charge(s).

I would call around to different schools and keep asking until you get answers. I would be surprised if there weren't at least a few incoming students with DUIs, and that should be considered worse since it's a misdemeanor.

Pay for your own background check

Yeah I knew it would show up. It was one super minor charge, the fine was only $155. That was my one and only offense. Most lawyers I talk to say it shouldn't matter, but I just want to hear from someone who's been in my shoes before.

I already know it will show up on my background check. My question is how the school will react to it. I submitted the background check 2 days ago, so it's up to fate now.

Thanks, I hope so. Most lawyers say I'll be fine because it was in the past and it really only affects my licensing which isn't for another 4 years. I just wish I could speak to someone who's been in my shoes.
