So I heard that Wayne State decided to not extend their contract with DMC hospital system. What will this mean about the Wayne State program? I know since the attendings aren't on the WSU faculty anyway it won't mean that much, but still kind of sucks that it's no longer a university based program.

I'm not overly concerned with this in terms of the program and training. I've heard from a non-anesthesiology attending that we'd still get a "WSU-SOM certificate"...... Not sure exactly what that means, though.

"Effective July 1, 2010, all Residency Programs will become
sole-sponsored by the DMC. Your Faculty will continue to work with the medical school, will continue to use the resources of the medical school (office, research and lab facilities), will continue to apply to WSU for academic promotion, and will continue to do all the things we do that are related to your training. The Residency Program will be sole-sponsored by the DMC, but WSU will continue its affiliation with your Residency Program. Your diplomas will still have the logos of the DMC and WSU. This will not affect your training in any way.

This is taken directly from an email regarding the situation between DMC and WSU. Hope this helps:banana: 24 days left!
