Lets start this out. Just got my acceptance letter today. My visit to Dartmouth was awesome and its my top choice right now.
Hey, Happy Holidays. At last its over 🙂. Anyone else care to join us here? 😀
From last years thread I think its around April-May. Can anyone confirm this?
here's a question for you. do the professors hand out slides for the classes, or are they emailed to everyone? or do students just have to write down everything. i'm asking cuz i wanna know if a tablet pc would be useful.
True story from a first year:
My anatomy lab partner would smear human cadaver grease on my apron and goggles. He did it more than once, even after I told him I didn't like it. Of course, another lab partner would just defend him, saying that my apron was already dirty.
Is anyone going to make a Dartmouth Medical School Class of 2011 facebook group?
Why don't you do the honors? I'm sure people will join👍
physicsnerd or another DMS student, i see that not many students have matched into neurosurgery (actually, i only see 1 that matched between 2001 and 2005 at instititutions which DMS graduates most frequently match). i know nsg is not the most popular/easiest field to get into (gross understatement!), but is there a particular reason why DMS lacks many matches into this field? is this b/c there's a lack of interest in nsg at DMS or other reasons? any opinions about nsg/neuroscience research/opportunities at DMS would be appreciated? thanks.
Eh just doing what med students often do: whine. And help create a realistic picture.I don't get it, what are you implying?😕
Thanks a bunch, physicsnerd! I was wondering if I could get your perspective on housing at DMS. My only restrictions are that I won't have a car and would like to be within walking distance of class. Right now, North Park is the most appealing (and only?) option. Are there any other options that meet my requirements that you can think of? Is it possible to live in an on-campus building? And is the Admissions Office the best place to begin the search? Thanks again.
Has anyone received information regarding orientation, start of classes, etc., yet? If not, does anyone have an idea of when classes will begin? Thanks.

Med school rant #2: my roommate, a DMS student, often doesn't flush. It's really gross to walk into the bathroom and see a pile of feces. A.b.s.o.l.u.t.e.l.y disgusting. My other roommate and I are afraid of actually confronting him. Some of us think it's intentional. Hence the rant on the internet.
where's the info on North Park? sorry havent heard of it before is it an apartment complex? how are the prices? thanks for the help
Is this year's entering class going to be around 50 or 80? Or is it always around 80 and it's just that in years past roughly 30 of these students were Brown-Dartmouth?

For DMS students out there...just had a few questions:
- About how much do you spend on groceries, gas and other incidentals in a month? (aka what is the cost of living)
- Also how bad/long are the winters up there?
- Would a car like a 97 honda accord or a toyota corolla do well up there?
And thanks for the housing link physicsnerd...helped out a lot.
Anyone signed/signing up for the Advanced Readiness Course? I'm thinking about it. Can someone who's taken it reflect a bit on it? Thanks.
