whyyy do they have to snail mail it to us??? e-mail would've been so much faster and I would have had mine already!!!
 
Got mine today, posted in the class thread. Isn't it cool to have the @dmu.edu email. It's like I'm legit....
 
I got mine too! My mom just never told me it came in the mail. Yayy one step closer to being at DMU!
 
I have a question for any of the accepted applicants who have already received scholarship awards. How long does it take for them to decide/give those awards out? Do they show up through the portal system or by email? Any other info about how it works would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i haven't heard of any scholarship awards. i am not sure they have awarded any out. I could be wrong, and scholarships aren't exactly something people brag about. Unless they are a douche. Keep it classy.

All the merit based scholarships have been handed out for a while. But they do it on a rolling basis, so if someone decides not to go to DMU, they'll give it to someone else.
 
I interviewed 2 weeks ago and was hoping to hear back today, oh well I guess one more week of anxious waiting won't kill me.

Yeah they handed out the scholarships in December. Technically you can still get one though(I'm still hoping I do!) because people could chose to go elsewhere. Financial aid package refers to loans I think...
 
Hello Everyone!
Has anyone interviewed on 2/17? If so, have you heard anything back?

I'm anxiously checking my e-mail every day. It has been 11 days and I am freaking out. -_-

I am guessing the wait is about 3 weeks now to hear back, I interviewed on the 10th. It looks like a lot of people were hearing on Fridays so I am guessing that is when the next update will come. I am really anxious to hear back from DMU and one other program so I am a habitual email checker and sdn thread stalker, so youre not alone if you feel uncharacteristically inpatient, after all the program is pretty awesome.
 
I interviewed last week and they said they would let us know in two weeks so I'm assuming you guys will hear any day now. I think the DOA was traveling so its possible that they delayed an adcom meeting until he returned which caused a slight delay.

Two weeks flies by in regular life but man it drags when you're waiting for a life changing decision! Good luck.
 
I think you guys will hear from them tomorrow. DMU sends out acceptance/rejections on Wednesdays and Thursdays (or Tuesdays... can't remember which "T", ha).

I feel much better now knowing that checking my e-mail ten thousand times a day is normal...and the waiting continues...

Not as many people have been posting about acceptances lately compared to early on in the cycle which makes sense. But I must say to all of you there is hope and even if it doesn't work this year DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS/GOALS !!!!!

Just declined my acceptance because I got into somewhere close to home. It was a tough decision and this is a great school. I hope one of you gets my spot!!

They should give you an acceptance just by your sdn username.
 
It truly is my dream school so hope they read SDN. 🙂

I figured ya'll would've heard back by now! Now you have to suffer through the weekend. :laugh:

Hang in there! If you don't find out by next Wednesday, you should give them a call and ask them when they mailed your acceptance letter. 😎
 
I interviewed 2/10 and I am still waiting. I am hoping to hear today because it is three weeks out now, but who knows. I think Indiasfinest interviewed on 12/15, this late in the cycle they are taking longer to get back to people.

It's a really busy time of year for schools since the application season is winding down. They're finalizing their incoming class and getting the roster and portal info set up... so it might take them an additional week to send out acceptance letters.
 
So yesterday was DMU's last interviews for the season. I'm guessing it shouldn't be much longer since they will probably have the adcom meet for all the outstanding interview decisions at once.
 
OMG I didn't realize that their interview season ends so early!

Yes I hope I hear by next week. If not, I will definitely give them a hollar.

I think DMU lets you know through e-mail if you are accepted or not.

FYI I spoke to admissions earlier this week about something unrelated and was told the wait time is now 3 weeks from your interview date so you should be hearing by late next week. Good luck!
 
Just checked my email and I got accepted! I am really pumped this program is awesome. Unless I get in to my hometown program I will be going here. Email came at 2:35 PST, so you should hear next week LOVEDMU, I'm pulling for you! Congrats Gottatroop and anyone else who got the good news!
 
Thank you for the FYI 🙂 This will definitely be the longest week of my life haha I guess my two jobs and volunteer work will keep me busy so hopefully I am not going to think about it very much...

I think my parents, friends, coworkers and poor boyfriend are all annoyed. They too will be extremely happy when this is all over lol!

Thank you LieutenantDan and congrats on the acceptance! You rock! -Not saying those that didn't get in are not phenomenal. Your time will come! Keep at it!!

& GOOD LUCK for those that are in the same shoes as me! 😳)

Congrats Lt Dan! I am really excited to hear the news for you. I have been lurking in the shadows on this forum, as I am planning on adding it to my list of schools for June's AACOMAS. Really excited to see that you and frky both got into DMU, as I've always heard it's an excellent program. Hopefully, I'll be joining you all next year if the program closest to me doesn't accept me.
 
Thanks everyone, yeah I really liked this program a lot, it even had some things that the bigger state schools didn't have. For example you have a lot more access to sim labs and surgery training than many schools. But my favorite thing about DMU was the students, everyone seemed happy and this school had some of the friendliest students I have met at any program, there seemed to be a strong sense of community.
I was hesitant to interview at DMU because I ultimately want to practice on the West Coast and got into a program there, but the interview day gave me a very favorable impression of DMU. If you have a chance definitely interview here, it's hard to do the program justice in words.
Both of my parents are grads of University of Iowa medical school but they did as many rotations as possible in Des Moines because they said Des Moines has better training programs too.

Nice. Yeah I'm looking forward to the surgical skills lab, for sure. I'm wanting to pursue surgery of some kind (although, this may change when rotations start), but I feel DMU is going to prepare me better for performing well during rotations and residency, whether surgically-related or not.

Looking forward to meeting you (and everyone else going to DMU) this fall.

I interviewed 2/17 and have not heard.
 
They said give them three weeks when I was there in late February. Hopefully you all will be hearing something this week!

Good luck... but save a spot for me! 🙂
