hey all

i dont know if this topic has been discussed before
so im sorry if it was

i got accepted into both schools, DMU and UMDNJ
i have done enough research about both schools, they are both great schools

but i am leaning more towards umdnj because of its location, price, and the hospital, but i know dmu have a stronger and more diverse match list

any thoughts

Contrary to popular belief, the school factors very little. There are very established schools (over 100 yrs) that still have communication and other issues with rotation sites based simply on the nature of the large healthcare entities with which they coordinate. Newer schools will likely have the same issues so I wouldn't put too much stock in that as a reason alone; it goes with the territory.

The school has even less or virtually no influence on the residency - that's up to the individual student's class ranking, board scores, rotation success, ECs, and how well they interview. If your numbers and CV are up to par, the school doesn't matter. The only place there is a slight indication otherwise is the Ivy League, but that's even a rare thing, IMO.

It's still all a numbers game.

Bottom line: Go where you feel like you're the best fit and can make the most of your future. Make sure your environment suits you, too. The school itself is not going to make or break you. It's what you make of it.

If you're from the northeast then I would suggest going to UMDNJ.

just thinking about the class size: 250+ vs. 108.

you also should look at other factors: clinicals, cost & expenses, and what you thought about the schools during interviews. Its probably also important to know it is the type of environment that you feel comfortable.

Good luck, both are great schools. Believe it or not but you are doing the FUN part of the medical school process.

i am making the same exact decision
im favoring umdnj more bcz of its location (close to family), tuition, smaller class size, and on site hospital
any thoughts
best of luck

i decided to go to umdnj
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

same here
lol u were funny yesterday
good luck

Hmmm just wondering where you got that 250+ for DMU.

Our classes are all about 205-215 but feels a lot smaller since the school is all medical professions and no undergraduate.
