Hi y'all,
I am currently a pre-pod student looking at doing an MPH alongside a DPM. I recently became interested in public health, primarily community health. With both of these degrees I would like to express to the community benefits of taking care of your feet, walking, how your feet affect your overall body (back pain, etc.), purchasing correct shoes, educating diabetes patients and families. I know a lot of people are uneducated about their feet, so it would be nice to spread the knowledge and help them out. Not sure if this is a good reason to pursue and MPH.
Anyway, DMU is my top choice right now, especially because their program is online and they format it to fit with your schedule. I just wanted to know what steps I should take from here on out. I am a junior, will be applying to pod school next fall. I plan on taking Health Care in the US next semester, but wondering if I should take Public Health & Engaged Citizen instead. I wouldn't be able to take the public health class until next winter (after i apply), so I'm leaning towards it. Only problem with that, is the Health care class is a prereq for an intro to epidemiology class. Thoughts?
