2 DO Neurosurgery matches:
Got curious and looked one of them up. Has his name on 21 publications on pubmed. That's quite the high bar.
2 DO Neurosurgery matches:
UTC surgery is a good match. They have never considered DOs before, so that makes it even betterVCOM Auburn Update on some big time matches
OBGYN: University of Louisville
GEN Surg: UTC Chattanooga <--- This is a program that has never taken a DO before
Radiology: VTECH
Derm: program in Virginia
ACOM had an optho and I think a couple Derm
NS at U Illinois Chicago too 😀And neurosurgery
I will say the individual that matched Neurosurg is a beast and has busted his butt. Waiting on a text back from him about a "How to" so that way we can post it for the school. Ill ask for permission to post it here as well.NS at U Illinois Chicago too 😀
94% match rate this year pre soap.
Yes.EM at WashU (has WashU taken a DO before?)

U Colorado (KCU)
Very small field and has the most elite applicant pool in medicineWhy is Integrated Plastics soo anti DO still?
I mean relative to IMG's ...still seems like more IMG's match into it then DO's... maybe DO's self select out of it...Very small field and has the most elite applicant pool in medicine
100% ....programs will almost always rank DO over Carib...they always did.. DO's overall have always matched at better programs than Carib grads.. it's just now these low tier community programs are being flooded by "lower" ranked DO students(due to rapid and massive DO school expansion) and crowding out spots that previously went to average Carib grads.. not a good look for Caribbean programs...So far looks like a great year for the DO world. A trend I'm seeing, whether its true or not idk, programs seem to be moving off the Caribbean MD grads in favor of US DOs. Hate it for them, but love it for the new DO grads. I noticed this trend just a little bit last year at some of the "lower tiered" community primary care residencies. In the past they would have 8/10 spots filled with IMGs and a couple DOs. Now that same program will have the exact opposite look. Looking forward to seeing if this holds true again this year
Exactly my observation100% ....programs will almost always rank DO over Carib...they always did.. This is gonna keep happening as DO schools continue to expand...Exactly my observation
And there is prob no self selection for the Caribbean grads lol. They are risk takers by nature (or uninformed, but I suppose the hubris may have worked out the very few) thats how they got to the Caribbean. Also more grads, so not surprising some make it.I mean relative to IMG's ...still seems like more IMG's match into it then DO's... maybe DO's self select out of it...

I had a podium presentation at the biggest plastic society annual meeting, from what I can recall pretty much all other med students I saw were from IVY league or top 20 med schools (I did this research at an IVY league medical center)Why is Integrated Plastics soo anti DO still?

I just matched and im at RowanSOM. Pretty underwhelming list for sure aside from Dartmouth and CCF IM, Univ of Maryland EM, Brown Psych, Duke Peds, 2 ophtho (1 was MD ophtho at EVMS stellar applicant), 1 DO uro, 2 DO orthoDoes anyone have the RowanSOM matches for this year?
RVU 98.2%In case you don't want to go googling, here's the 2022 match data
91.3% of US DO Seniors matched, which is the highest in the last 5 years.
RVU 98% presoapI know RVU has at least 4 derm matches so far, one of them being I believe the first ever IM + Derm combined match for a DO.
Pretty sure that number is post soap. The dean used the word "placed"RVU 98% presoap
RowanSOM had a Dartmouth IM. Theyve only taken 3 DOs ever. Brown and Dartmouth are the only two Ivys that have taken DOs however its very few and far between. Brown typically takes 1 per year (except this yr they took 3) and as said above Dartmouth has only matched like 3 everWestern-Northwest matched IM at UChicago and Brown!! Didn't think it would ever be possible to see IM matches at an ivy league.

Perhaps not every specialty…yet, but I think the merger has finally started to level the playing field.Wholy **** what a year for DO's
I think the merger has really started to level the playing field for DO grads. And agree the biggest losers are the Caribbean school grads. So far looks like a great year for the DO world. A trend I'm seeing, whether its true or not idk, programs seem to be moving off the Caribbean MD grads in favor of US DOs. Hate it for them, but love it for the new DO grads. The merger has begun leveling the playing field for DO grads and at the expense of the Caribbean schools.According to this:
47 Derm matches (includes DO grads)
9 neurosurg (gotta be the most I’ve seen)
111 ortho
21 ENT
212 Gen surg (30+ more if you include prior grads)
173 rads
21 IR
DO match rate: 91.3
MD match rate: 92.9
I don't know about that... DO's are getting looked at by more traditionally MD programs... let's be honest Caribbean grads weren't matching at Mayo Ortho...The merger has begun leveling the playing field for DO grads and at the expense of the Caribbean schools.
I am really not sure actually but thats a good assumption about Dartmouth. Brown has always known to be an institution that is more forgiving to the non-trad route which is sometimes more typical of a DO applicant than an MD. They are a bit more holistic even for their med school they reward reinvention I have been told. Dartmouth location is so bad so its possible that your assumptions are correct. Despite being the less prestigious in the IM world compared to the other Ivys like HUP, Columbia, MGH/BWH/BIDMC, Yale, Cornell, both Brown and Dartmouth as programs are good looks for DOs and have excellent fellowship match listsDo you think that maybe Dartmouth has to be DO friendly across several of its programs because its prestige doesn't overcome its remote location? Don't know why Brown chooses to be DO friendly - never been to Rhode Island before but I know that Providence is a prime area to live in.
DO’s getting more looks by traditional md programs in part a result of the residency merger. In addition in more primary care specialties, spots that were going to Caribbean grads at lower tier community hospitals as an example now going to more US grads with the expansion of more med schools which more recently have been DO schools.I don't know about that... DO's are getting looked at by more traditionally MD programs... let's be honest Caribbean grads weren't matching at Mayo Ortho...
