Do Adcmons look at MDapplicants.com?

I was worried that a school may figure out who I am based on my profile and then see all the other schools I am applying to and may come to conclusion that I am using their school as a backup, when actuality I am not. Due to this, I have already added some anonymity to my mdapplicants profile, but it may be too late.

I can't say for sure, but put yourself in their shoes. If you were a member of the adcom (compromised mostly of volunteers who work full-time on the side) would you go through applications and search their stats on mdapps? You are already buried in essays to read. That being said, it is clear at this point that the University of Michigan admissions committee follows SDN, but I believe this is less labor intensive

I'm pretty sure that they have better uses for their time than to figure out who is who on the internet. It's not like they're only doing admissions, they have their own lives as well, maybe they teach classes, work in a hospital or do research. They also know that you are applying to other schools.

I've had other schools make it obvious that they follow SDN while I was interviewing, as well. No clue about mdapps. Good rule of thumb: just don't put any information that can identify you out on the internet. While you're at it, keep your facebook clean and ratchet up the security on that thing. Problem solved.

EDIT: Agree with the above poster. NO school is going to think that you applied only to them. Even if by some odd chance they searched for your mdapp, BFD...

I know that adcoms read SDN, but I doubt they care to browse MD apps. Especially not at this point of the year where they literally have thousands of apps to go through, most of which will never even get serious consideration from the school.

I might look at a link to MDApps when asked, to answer a WAMC question. This is inconvenient, as it takes so long to load the page. It never crossed my mind to access the website for casual reading or applicant identification. Sounds boring.

I think they can see what schools you were accepted to after a certain date.

Due to a computer glitch in 2001, applications for admission in 2002 displayed a listing of all schools applied to but that was fixed and we can't see other schools applied to.

It is true that after a certain date in late winter/early spring, a school that has made you an offer can see the other schools that have made you an offer. At a later point (May?), a school that has waitlisted you can see if you have accepted an offer elsewhere.

I really don't understand this paranoia wwith being identified. In the very off chance that you are identified, what does it matter?

You don't understand. They only know about my name, how much my parents made, my address, what school I attended, my gpa, my mcat score, all of the things that I've done, what professors think of me and what my face looks like. I must maintain my anonymity!

But how is this going to impact future physician salaries? You know this is a chance that physician salaries may go down in the near future....🙂

and FYI make sure you are conscious of your facebook PIC too. Never worked in the admissions office, but I was a supervisor in my lab post undergrad, and we routinely looked up people on facebook. You would be surprised how many people have dumb facebook pics...ie chugging from a handle etc.
