Do adcoms do this often for applicants?

The reason I ask is that I found something pretty embarrassing (nothing illegal...just offensive...) when I googled my name

Some advice from one of the adcoms that posts here would be awesome!

No. We have better things to do with our time. Besides most applicants aren't the only person in the world with their name. It would take some effort for the most part to "Google stalk" them. Not worth it.
