This is an index that I made from analyzing the AACOMAS report on applicants and matriculants. The data is not so helpful with the upper reaches of MCAT scores (34+) because we can assume that some of these students decided to matriculate to MD schools. It is fairly helpful for the lower scores however (up to 30) because it can also be assumed that many of these students matriculated to DO schools they were accepted to. This would be so much easier if we had the app/accepted data instead of app/matriculate data alone. So it is not perfect but it gives a good idea from the data we have to work with.

Does this assume a normal stat distribution among matriculants? I suspect it does, which would be one inherent flaw I see in it. But hey, if it makes you guys feel better for applying, then sure.

Glancing at the chart, it looked like it said I only have a 13% chance of matriculating...
then I saw the second page.

I do not need this stress right now, dude.
Sorry man, don't let the chart cause distress it's only my less than perfect analysis of the data (someone should really get the applicant/acceptance data to fill in the holes because I think the index scores below MCAT~30 are fairly accurate) I'm sure you golden no sweat!

It assumes a slightly skewed distribution to the right (median>mean) as does the data from the applicant/matriculate profile from the AACOM website

I think @pstrick may be looking at the chart wrong. I was under the impression that the numbers in the chart are scores, and if you look at the color coding it shows the chance acceptance. So if pstick is seeing a 13 as their score, they should be seeing a 50-80% acceptance, or highly competitive ranking. Am I on the right track OP?

If so... I am quite interested by this chart! 😀

Exactly! Not a percent chance but a score that correlates to a percentage in the key

This is almost the exact same thing as he "LizzyM" chart. Have you all looked into that yet?

I have, and I absolutely love the LizzyM chart and scores!

But it's also reassuring to see this as well. The more tools the better in my book.

The LizzyM school also takes into account allopathic medical school statistics, but is likely corrected for this.

hahaha I know I thought that too. I was like "Damn well screw it! yolo! I'm going for it!" But then palmyra boosted my morals even more!

the index scared the crap outta me too until I saw the conversions

I'm still wondering what kind of train-wreck-of-an-interviewer someone must be to score in the 100th percentile on the MCAT with a 4.0 and still not get into medical school?
Or you just have no ECs

Im in the 3.2-3.6 range and the 25-29 range on the higher end. Just got my rejection from rocky vista lol. So this isnt 100 % accurate.

This kid was told to do as poorly as possible to demonstrate "what not to do", right? Please tell me that's that case.
Haha, I'm not so sure. I think this video may be the result of years of abuse from Asian parents.

Nothing will ever be close to 100% accurate as there are just too many other variables for each student. Something that looks only at GPA and MCAT scores isn't going to be a great indicator of getting an acceptance.

On another note I wish they would break down the GPA a bit more. There is a big difference in someone near a 3.6 and someone near 3.2.

Keep in mind this is for getting into ANY school, not an individual school. And yes I agree, a 3.2/25 is a big difference in competitiveness than a 3.6/29 in my opinion, this is just the breakdown they give us on the site.

A lot of Asians grow up in these types of house holds but to have the stupidity to speak the way he did, keep smiling like he is embarrassed "ratting out" his true feelings, and mention nurses "wipe peoples butts", he has to be classified as a special type of stupid.

I hope this is NOT a what not to do during a medical interview because it honestly doesnt teach anyone with a bit of common sense, what not to logically do.

Like I could make a whole list of ridiculous things like don't talk about the time you got wasted with your friends and hired strippers, or dont whip your junk out and jerk it, or dont talk about how you wanna make bank. Like these are all obvious ones. I feel like a video where they mention things like, dont bring up bad grades unless asked, or make sure you wear dress shoes in combination with your fancy suit, etc would be a better what not to do video.

Do you get what I mean? I feel what I'm trying to say is hard to convey.

I think you did great with the information that is available. My comment was mainly directed at AACOMAS, I meant that I wish we got more/better information from them.

Yeah I agree, it is helpful since AACOMAS hardly provides much to us.

I also wish stats were more accurate to getting admissions in schools lol

According to this I'm highly competitive but only got one interview lol.
