At my school we can take "concept" classes along with major science courses as sort of an SI with a grade. The class is 1 credit hour. I am planning on taking a gen chem course over the summer and the 1 credit hour class can help my GPA AND help me in the class.

I was wondering if this extra class looks bad on transcripts for D-school and when applying to specialty programs.

I dont think it would be seen negatively at all, assuming that you do good in both the main and conceptual class. If it is optional to take it, that shows you are more committed to getting a better grade and understanding the material than someone who didn't. As far as it looking bad in the sense that you did good because of the conceptual class, all colleges have optional SI and tutoring help for main sciences that people are able to go to

I called up some dental schools and they said it didn't look bad.

True, plus it will help my GPA lol every bit counts. The fact that I will be taking a class over the summer AND the concept class makes it less of a "you just passed because you had help" situation.

I'm worried about specialties though. Since they look at undergrad and are so competitive...I don't know.
