Hey guys

So I posted this in the "what's my chance" forum and havent had any feedback for almost a week. SO I thought if anyone here can give me some insight.

So I did my AACOMAS application last year but didn't go through with the secondaries, as I couldn't get my science LORs in time.

non-sGPA:3.43
sGPA: 3.08
overall GPA:3.18
EC: volunteer at hospitals (~over 1000hr, over 5 year time), Lab (~2000hr), other involvements, such as club activities, World Vision, senior homes (couple hundred hrs)
MCAT: 26 (retake in MAY)

I know my GPA is kind of low. However, I do have a upward trend.
One problem is, last term, just before graduation, I failed anatomy (father went to hospital that morning, think that throw me off. Failed final, so I failed the course).
Other than that, all As that term.
Without that F in anatomy, I would have a almost 3.2 sGPA and 3.3 overall GPA...
I haven't retaken it yet as I have been taking a job to pay off student loan, volunteer and studying for the MCAT.

What you guys think?
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Cheers!

Why is your cGPA different than your overall gpa? They are the same thing..

And was the fail in CAPS 390/391 or the first year Anatomy/physiology combined class ?

typo. non-sGPA.

Just gross anatomy.
Took it as P/F

I would beg and try to get into the summer session class. Failing gross anatomy would be a huge red flag to me, especially if its recent.

Hm

I thought we can't grade replace P/F courses for AACOMAS

It means you can't grade replace an C- with a p/f.

But if you do it the other way around, like you did, you should be fine to retake it for a grade. An F is an F. Especially in a class like Anatomy, which everyone says is one of the "harder" or most likely to fail in first year med. failing it in undergrad..well, might not look good for you. Retake it asap and get an B+ at least.

Interesting.
Didn't retake it thinking that I couldnt grade replace it since it was P/F

Will definitely retake now then
Done in June, just time for secondaries.

But other than that, any other inputs on chance?

I re-read the AACOMAS, its actually not clear, I might be wrong. Ask them for a definitive answer.

When is everyone submitting their apps?
