Hi SDN! I'm wondering if anyone has a clear answer regarding grade replacement with AACOMAS as I have heard various conflicting information from different admissions counselors from DO schools and from previous threads. My question:

Can a semester class replace a grade from a quarter class if the semester credit hours are equal/greater than the quarter credit hours (after conversion) and the content is the same? Or can quarter classes only be replaced by other quarter classes?

Ex. Replacing 2 quarters of organic chemistry (4 and 3 quarter units respectively = 4.7 semester units total) with 2 semesters of organic chemistry (3 semester units each = 6 total).

Thanks for the help!

That should work just fine since you are replacing less semester-equivalent units with more semester-equivalent units.
If you have doubts, contact AACOMAS and ask.

Thank you! For anyone who wants to know, here's the official response from AACOMAS:

"In order for a course to replace a previous course, it does not need to be taken at the same institution. There are a few requirements that the courses must meet in order to qualify as a repeat. First, the level of the courses must be the same. Second, the ratio of the courses must be one to one (i.e. one course can only replace one other course). Next, the course names and/or descriptions must be similar enough that we can tell that they are the same course. Finally, the final time that you take the course the credits must be for equal to or greater than the original number of credits (i.e. a four credit course can replace a 3 credit course but not the other way around). I hope that answers all of your questions."
