When registering for the MCAT, the first and last names are required. But the middle name is optional.

I prefer to leave the middle name blank because it makes my full name sound complex. Then again, my driver's license includes this name.

I want to do what's best for the registration.

Is it a good idea to include the middle name? Can there be any problems later on down the road because of this?

If your driver's license has your middle name, include it. I doubt they'll care that your middle name makes your name sound complex. They may, however, care if your name doesn't match your license.

Probably not, but who knows. Is it American sounding?

Who cares if it is American sounding?

I used my middle name since that is whats on government records, my passport, degree, etc. I don't use it in other settings though. Why should it matter if it is American sounding? Mine is very Polish, so what?

OP, if you use your middle name or it is on official documents/your driver's license then use it.

I never said it should matter but there have been studies that have shown that one's name on the resume had an influence on likelihood of obtaining job interview (I believe the study was comparing ethnic black names to the standard Anglo names). For the med school app process it probably doesn't make a difference but you never know.
Clarification: When I said "Probably not" I was answering, "Can there be any problems later on down the road because of this?" not "Is it a good idea to include the middle name?" I should have been more clear. I think the OP should list the full name if it's on the driver license.

I used my middle name, but I have one of those typical Asian last names. I worry that there will be people with my same first and last name.

I was suppose to get a 32, but they degraded my score a 29 because I forgot to add my middle name. Come on man, worry about IMPORTANT THINGS.. like how you're going to do well on the actual exam.

Having your ID match your registered name for taking the test is an IMPORTANT THING. If you don't think so, ask the people who are turned away every test date because of a minor difference in their drivers license and registeration name.

yes, use your middle name. i've had problems (non-mcat related) with my id not matching what i said/wrote down in the past...also i go by a nickname that is not on my license and i put that down accidentally...so dont do that.
