I know there must be hundreds of these but I figured I would make my own personalized one. I am currently a junior in Biomedical engineering with a concentration in bio mechanics. I have a 3.9 overall GPA. I did 50 hours of shadowing work in a clinic in Capetown this summer at a HIV/ARV clinic, where I also was able to do some work in the trauma and pediatric unit. During the school year I volunteer once a week at free clinic. I am involved in a number of clubs as well. I also established a mentor program where upperclassmen act as a mentor to freshman and sophomores in my major. I have been involved in a number of volunteer events and I also tutor inner city kids that are behind in math once a week. I also play intramural soccer every year. I am a member of the medical honor society and the new biomedical honor society. Unfortunately, when I was 18 I got an underage drinking ticket but will have that expunged. I also have a speeding ticket that I hope will not be a big deal when I apply but I am not sure? I will be going to Guatemala this spring break to work and volunteer in various hospitals. I have not taken the MCAT yet but I will this spring. Next summer I am also lined up to do 10 weeks of research about cancer cells, and next semester I will also be doing some volunteering in a nursing home as well as hopefully more shadowing.

So basically what i want to know is with these stats, what are my chances of getting in to any of the North Carolina medical schools, or even out of state?
Thanks!

Without an MCAT score, we can't answer this question.

Your ECs look to be fine though, once you get some shadowing of US physicians done. UNC and Duke, maybe Wake, too, would probably prefer to see more than 10 weeks of research experience though.

The legal issues you mention will not be a deterrent to an acceptance.

So say I make a 32 ish on the MCAT, how are my chances? And as far as the research it looks like I will be completing 360-400 hours on new methods of radiotherapy for cancer treatment, is that not enough experience?

A 3.9/32 gave about a 77% chance of an acceptance somewhere to past applicants.

Consider that about a year of research is average for those listing it. The research giants seem to prefer more involvement than that, though getting by with less isn't impossible if one has wow-level experience in some other area.
