Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I have a good chance or not to get into a OT program. I live in NY so I will be applying to schools in NY and NJ. Applying in the fall. Here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.5
Science GPA: 3.0
Psych GPA: 3.85

Prerequisite GPA: 3.49 - 3.52 (depending on school).
*My Anatomy grades are lower, B- and B, and all my other prereqs are mostly A's and some A-'s. I will probably retake anatomy if I don't make it my first time around. Should I be as worried about the Anatomy grades??

Observation: Plan on finishing at least 100 hrs before I apply, trying to get it as close to 200 as possible. Currently have 50 hrs in pediatric private practice, elementary school, and at a nursing home with also patients from hospital.

Other volunteer/community/leadership service: Group Leader for children's Vacation Bible Camp for 3 yrs, board member of event coordinators for women in STEM, Volunteer for Michael's Cause for children with Muscular Dystrophy since 2015, member of Operation Smile to raise money for child cleft palate surgeries, participate in Safe Halloween for kids every year with psych club on campus.

Schools Im Applying to: NYIT, NYU, SUNY Downstate, Touro, Seton Hall, Stockton, Hofstra

Im mostly worried about my prerequisite GPA/anatomy grades. Please let me know what you think if you can, and good luck to anyone else applying!

Your stats look solid, although I would definitely retake anatomy and strive for that A.

I got into four programs just fine with the same grades for anatomy and with just a slightly higher GPA. Be sure to have a strong personal statement and have good interviews and those grades are fine.

Hello, I have a question for all OT students, recent graduates or anyone knowledgeable on my questions. I am a Sophmore in college and I am starting pre-requisites for an MSOT program near me. I have volunteered 100 hours at a Hand Therapy office and will continue to find another place to volunteer.

I have a few questions:

When do you typically start applying for OT school? Junior year or Senior year?

What type of things did you have on your resume that you thought might have made you stand out (community service, volunteer etc.)?

What did you major in for your bachelors?

Did you have a paid position in something related to OT to have on your resume?

I hope many people take the time to answer my questions so I can become more knowledgeable on the application process. I appreciate it!

Thank you.
