Damn. How much did u study fot the DAT? Your GPA is excellent, definetely top 30% of people applying, but your DAT is definetely bottom 30% applying. However, you never know about adcoms, they may see something special in your application or Letters of Rec. And maybe you can speak with the admissions ppl at each school and tell them your taking it in December.

Hi Nima
You have very solid science and overall gpa's. Your DAT scores are a bit low, though. I have heard that this year is shaping up to be a very competitive one. Since the DAT is a major compenent of your application, it's good that you are retaking the DAT. Study hard, remain committed to the cause, and you should see an improvement in your scores. As far as interviews and what not, dental schools are swamped with applications right now. I would give it a few more weeks before you hear from the majority of them. I sent my application on the first of June, and by the time AADSAS sat on it and schools reviewed it, I didn't really start to hear from schools until the end of July. Best of luck! 👍

Hi Nima,

I recently had an interview at Maryland. During the course of my interview they pretty much ripped my DAT score (AA: 17/PAT: 16) in a professional way and I'm a state resident. They recommended that I retake the DAT before they consider my application for admissions.
My suggestion for you would be to retake the DAT, but remember this time around you have to change the way you study. It's not how long you study, but how intelligently you study the material. I've heard of people who scored in the 16s/17s on their 1st attempt, who end up with 20s-22s on their 2nd attempt. Don't worry about taking it a 2nd time around, many people take the DAT multiple times so don't feel like your the only one! Work hard and you'll reach your goal of becoming a dentist. Hope this helps.

i studied for almost 2 months but the thing is when i took the test my comp crashed and it was the last thing i expected,,, so it was really frustrating and i let the universitits know what happend too.

I got into multiple schools with a 17AA/19Sci/16PAT including a 14 math. I had a high GPA like you. So MAYBE some schools will show you some love. All you can do is just see if you get any interest since your app is already in. But it doesn't hurt to take the DAT again since you are kinda on the low side. But it IS possible! "Half full" thinking helps during these times. :luck:

both, private and public. I applied to 20 schools ,, and i contacted all of the schools i just don't know if i will have a chance with these scores or not..... i started studying for my DAT again about 3 days ago and im planning to take it again in December. so.... let me know what u think?????

I don't really wanna blow up your bubbles, but most of the schools have DAT cut off point. Some schools have a minimum of 17 on each section and some 15. I would retake that DAT.
