I'm a Sophomore at Boston University, and I want to get into this pretty competitive Pre-Med program. I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.97 (3.72 if you include some college classes I took at BU during high school), and have worked one semester as a undergraduate teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry and two semesters as an undergraduate researcher in a medical lab (in addition to two summers of volunteering at the same place). However, I haven't done any volunteering in hospitals, and don't think I'll be able to total more than 100 hours before the deadline. I'll probably be able to get some decent LOR from two MDs that I work with in my lab and from some of my professors, but I think that my lack of experience with patients is what's going to hold me back.

Do I have a chance of getting into this program or should I just wait after I've graduated?

Just do what you're doing now, take the courses that are pre-reqs, and don't worry about any particular pre-med program. You do need to shadow, and volunteer clinically and non-clinically.

The thing is this pre-med program guarantees entry into one of my top medical schools, and if I have a chance I'm really willing to do whatever I have to to get in. It's just that the deadline's in February, and I don't have any particularly strong ECs aside from research and volunteering at my local church. Is there anything I can do starting between now and February or should I give up?

You'll have a 0% chance of getting in if you don't apply.

Considering this is a conditional acceptance program, you'll need clinical experience regardless. As a sophomore, I'd get that started asap even if you were planning on applying traditionally in a year or two. You don't need a 100 hours although it would be ideal to have at least that many.

By the way, your GPA for applying to med school is the 3.72. Any and all college-level courses are counted, even if you took them in high school.
