I didn't do the greatest on step 1 do i still have a shot of getting into a decent residency program in the east coast? The only programs i know are the ones that carry the big names, are there any other good programs that just fly under the radar but are good programs to train at?

first, you dont give much for us to work with because "didnt do the greatest on step 1" can mean almost anything from a 140 to a 240 depending on who you talk to and "decent residency program" is subjective as well. but assuming you didnt fail step 1 a few times, dont let it kill your confidence, because a lot of good programs will still interview, especially if you do well on step 2 and maybe do an away rotation..but below are a lost of good programs out east (not east coast per se) that arent considered powerhouses like chop, columbia, boston children's, hopkins, childrens national in dc, etc...although many of the following are still considered competitve programs

st chris in philiadelphia
pittsburgh
brown
medical univ of south carolina
mass general
yale
