i did my undergrad at a an average state school.

my science GPA is 2.45, overall GPA 3.06

my MCATs are a 27Q (PS-11, BS-8, VR-8) and a 28S (PS-11, BS-9, VR-8)

does anyone have similar stats? do i have any chance at any school?

Try DO and Carribbean. Your GPA and MCAT are too low for a realistic shot at US MD schools.

If you like the DO philosophy, I would apply DO before the Caribbean. If not, Carib may be the way to go! Either way, Good luck to you, my friend!

I think your stats are below average for MD US schools, so definitely apply DO and carribean. However, if time and money arent too much of an issue, you might consider applying to east tenn and university of tenn. Its a long shot, but i guess it depends on how bad you want to stay in the states and attain an MD degree.

Your overall GPA/MCAT are good for DO, but I'm not sure about your science GPA. A 2.45 is approximately a C+/B- in every course and I am not overly sure that will do it for you at a lot of the DO schools.

Why even ask? Even the DO schools aren't going to touch a science GPA of 2.5.
some schools have pretty low requirements of their residents. I've heard Arkansas is pretty low.

he could also be a URM. Meharry might not be out of reach.

I would still apply to East Tennesse, and a few of the other ones in TN or Georgia like Morehouse etc. You could still possibly get in, but that would mean you have good ec's and an outstanding interview. As mentioned before DO schools are a possibility, or you could retake some of your sciences and raise your g.p.a. and wait till next year to apply. With a higher g.p.a. it is possible to get into a school in TN even with a 28S.

i've already graduate...should i retake undergrad classes or continue with a masters in chemsitry or something?

your right, if the rest of apps are OK, you can get into med school with a 26 in TN (really rare tho)

Unfortunately, those stats are way too low for allopathic schools and sketchy for osteopathic schools. There are exceptions, especially with schools that focus on rural primary care. But you might want to do more work to improve your chances at admission to a medical school as this is a long and expensive process, and you want to give it your best shot.

I'd suggest looking at doing a post-bacc of 1-2 years(Enroll as a second-degree-seeking undergraduate at your university for a different degree, get all A's this time around...you don't need to graduate with the second degree) or do a SMP program. Definitely retaking the MCAT with a 30 or better for allopathic schools to look at you. :luck:

take more undergrad classes, don't move on to graduate classes.

Not really, at least in the US. If you take some post-bacc classes and raise the science gpa above a 3.0 somehow and/or DO and smp and rock it, you may have a slim shot at a US school. This is a really big commitment, and the forces are really against you-- I'd definitely think long and hard about how much you want this. Otherwise, start thinking about the Caribbean or a different career path. Good luck.

I think many DO schools have a cut-off around 2.7 science GPA. They'll screen you out before secondaries. Carribean is your best bet unless you want to retake some courses and get A's. DO schools replace grades so that would be a much easier way to get your science GPA above a 3.0.

Are you a minority? I knew a hispanic guy that got into UT Southwestern with lower stats than yours (first time applying too). Doesn't make sense to me but what can you do.
