Hey, everyone! This site is amazing. I'm a member of other forums not related to dental or DAT, and this one seems like it has a way higher help rate/participation and willingness by members to help.

So I'm freaking out. I was going to take my DAT on the 16th, postponed it a couple weeks back to the 31st. I figured if I don't do well it still leaves a chance for retake on Oct 31st before the deadline.

I wanted to study 300 hrs and felt that would be good. Now I have about 15 days of actual study time left (have to leave town for 3 days (17th-20th)). I have only put in about 60. I'm done with Chad's quizzes on GC and QR and watched all those vids. I'm just getting onto OG and I haven't even made it through Cliff's once. I'm on ch. 3 :/ My goal is to start pulling 11 hr days. 5 hrs for Bio, 4 hrs for chem, 1 hr for QR, and an hour for PAT. I read articles daily on stocks on seekingalpha, but I will probably throw in 20 mins of science reading. I'm a bio major but have been out for 1.5 yrs, and probably have a lot of re-learning to do.

I want to go through Chad's Organic vids (probably 45 hrs of my time with notes, pause, rewind, etc) and quizzes, and then Destroyer for all subjects. Do I have enough time in your guys' experience?? Just read this today: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/dat-done-or-is-it.859330/

A lot of people have done it in 3 weeks. So with 15 days of studying ahead (hopefully 165 hrs STUDY time), and 60 hrs behind, that puts me at about 225 hrs. Can i get it all done. Advice needed. Thanks!!

I have been studying for past 3 weeks and I do think it's do able but to be honest there is lot information I would recommend finish up all material take practice exam and see where u at

I too had the same worries and have talked to several dentists about what I should do. They all suggest that I familiarize myself with the test. You could study all you want but how about if you're not a good test taker. See your pace. You can always look up something you don't understand. In addition, I think you should invest in purchasing other supplemental material other than the DAT destroyer and put more effort in PAT.

Good luck!

I dont think thats enough time, you're spending a little too much time on chads videos and need to start practicing especially with only 10 days left. Utilize feralis notes and go through destroyer at least 2 times and get bootcamp if you dont have any other practice material.

I don't think any of us on here can really tell you if it's enough time. 300 hours is also a loose approximation based on the previous knowledge of the average studier. If you remember absolutely 0 from your pre-reqs, you'll probably need more time than someone who just completed them. Some people cram better than others. But you don't want the mindset that you'll take it now, with time for a retake. Aside from the extra $$ and study time, who knows if you'll do better the second time. Additionally, October 31 is pretty late. It takes a couple weeks after that to process your scores, and by then, most pre-dec interviewees will have finished their interviews.
You know that it's time to take the DAT when your mindset goes from telling you "OH MY GOD THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH TO LEARN AND I DON'T KNOW ANY OF IT" to "ok I studied for a while let me just get this overwith and move on with my life". If you're still telling yourself the former a couple days before the test, I'd reschedule again. Still cheaper than a retake.

Thank you for the advice, guys. I have the 2011 DAT destroyer for math and the others. I will also go over Feralis notes for bio. I purchased Bootcamp and I'm using that for PAT but haven't taken a practice test yet. I heard people go over all these things 2x, and that's why I'm a little stressed. I'm strong in math and hopefully gen chem, and PAT. Just my strong points.

Good point on not wanting to take a retake, and late in the game anyway. I appreciate the insights!

Are the 2011 versions to out of date/touch with this years exam?

I have the 2014 version for DAT destroyer both the math and the ochem/gchem etc. The Math has a total of 15 tests and the latter has a total of 316 questions for gchem, 291 for ochem, 516 for bio and a 153 questions for math at the end. Getting my word in for you is that do not fret it. There is no huge difference between the two versions. The 2014 one is just extended, more like testing the same subject areas found in the previous version. I'd focus on DAT destroyer and take notes. Also, practice taking a test under timed conditions. Get out of the house to a library or something to simulate the testing conditions!

Only you would know if 300 hours of studying is enough. You know your study habits better than any of us. Concerning the Destroyer I have the 2015 version.
563 Bio
335 general chem
298 Orgo
153 QR.
Is 300 hours enough to go through all of these questions???
