Do I have chance for NYU with these scores? My gpa is 3.7 and sgpa 3.45. I'm a postback. Took dat second time just now.
First time: Bio 17, Gchem 18, Orgo 18, pat 16, RC 16, QR 14 TS 18 AA 16
And now: Bio 16, GChem 17, OChem 17, pat 21, RC 16, QR 16 TS 17 AA 16
Does NYU have a cutoff?

I hope you get in, but I would retake!

And Contrarily to what other believes, NYU is not that easy to get in.
Many schools will not like your dat score, so it's better you retake!

Why your scores got lower? what did you do wrong, what was your preparation like?
Tell us what you did so we can help you plan better for next time.

I think I understood more, got more practice with bootcamp and destroyer and would assume I would do better - especially bio, but no. I'm very disappointed. On gchem had many calculations. Orgo had unseen till now rxns. Oh well.

what were you scoring on bootcamp for each section?

AA of 16 doesn't really give you a good shot anywhere. How have you been studying for the DAT?
I studied random mixed topic as they are in bootcamp and destroyer. I guess I need to do it by subject, the drawback I will forget the earliest topic before I get to the last. Please give me any suggestions!

I would go through a content review phase where you go over all of the material for the purpose of learning (not testing) before using resources like Bootcamp and Destroyer (which are for testing your knowledge after you've cemented a pretty good foundation). Studying topics as they show up in questions is kind of backwards and structureless. Did you do any content review before using Bootcamp and Destroyer?

I did light reading of Cliffs and Feralis.

Well, without reviewing the materials all over again, you miss a lot of concepts.

I would suggest you give yourself 3-4 months to prepare.
You study everything all over again.
For example, math, you watch the videos related, there is this guy called the organic chemistry tutor here has Qr videos 10 hours for 35 dollars. ( math is the easiest too learn) here is a link to this guy videos ()

Chem you watch Chad and Mike videos, You need to watch both!
Bio, you read Barron's Ap biology then watch the accompanying videos on educator com 45 dollars a month. Please login - Educator.com
Then read Feralise or alan's notes or Tyjacop's or read quizlet flashcards.
You buy Kaplan book + gold standard books for ochem, gen chem, Rc and Qr for practice
You do destroyer again after you have reviewed everything
You practice on generator pat on bootcamp every day

crack the dat is good for practicing RC and (also Pat if you want something easy to begin with) you later need to do Bootcamp pat again
You practice Math Destroyer, Then you practice math on Gre Books. Manhattan Gre Math book is very good.

You purchase Datqvault ( at this point Bootcamp is just a repetition for you, you need new resources to test yourself)

You read Scientific American articles every day, 3 articles or one that is 3100 words. You need to subscribe to their digital subscription for 34 dollars and you get access to their iphone app + archive up to 4 years
Economists have good deals too. 12 dollars for 3 months ( digital access)

But before you do that. Go rest!
take 1-2 weeks vacation and relax forget about this score and recharge.

Without rest, there is not gonna be any difference if you tried again.

Best of luck!

You need to realize that nobody is going to do it for you. If you want to go into dentistry, you'll need to suck it up and study hard for this test. No handouts in this field my friend.

Thank you! I thought to go without rest, but you are right I will take a little brake and will start again with the full power and the right direction, not the outside in but inside out!

Your DAT score tells me that you aren't serious about dentistry. That's what I made out of it, imagine what schools might think of it.[/QUOTE
Hi thank you for reply. But I don't think you are right here telling me I'm not serious about dentistry. I am indeed. Maybe you got the wrong impression from the way I studied. Yes I did it all the way wrong because I was reviewing it as I was going through the questions and that was my mistake.

At the end of the day, we applicants are nothing more than numbers. Schools only care about the final result. Now the amount of weeks you spent studying for the dat or your studying technique is all irrelevant to schools.

I did Chad videos but long time ago and destroyer Orgo maps

I also went over all destroyer problems

It doesn't sound like your content review phase was particularly thorough or in-depth, so that's an area you want to spend a lot more time in (ideally for a few months to really build up a solid foundation) before moving on to resources like BC and Destroyer that test your knowledge. I think what @Faefly posted above is a really good starting plan to approach that review. I would advise strongly focusing on this aspect of DAT preparation before registering for the test again.

Feel free to message me. I would like to discuss these scores and what can be done to improve them. It is unlikely you will get an interview invite with these scores. I work with a lot of students that apply to NYU and IMO these scores are not on par from what gets accepted.

Yes. I will do that. What other sources then destroyer and bootcamp I can use for testing after in ready. I feel that I would remember all the answers to the questions?

Hi Nancy, I will. Thank you.

In 3-4 months, if you're focusing solely on content review, you should have forgotten most of them by then. Only if you find you still remember them would I consider expanding to other resources.
