I am a biochemistry and sociology double major with a biology minor.
  • I have co-founded two organizations at my school that have spread onto other universities
  • I have also been awarded two grants for research ideas; $25,000 and $20,000.
  • My overall gpa is about a 3.49.
  • I have letters of recommendations from two Deans.
  • I have had lab research experience for 6 months on Stem Cell Engineering
  • I have shadowed plenty of dentists
  • I have over >500 hours of volunteer work
  • I also have had jobs throughout my college career.

However, I have yet to take the DAT. But if I got maybe a 20, would I have chances getting into schools like Baylor, Columbia, Temple, etc.?

I have also been a part an internship, such as working for trauma department at a Level 3 Trauma Center

Can't tell yet til you take your DATs.

If you get a 20 or higher, you should be ok, with your other credentials taken into consideration. However, even with those credentials, a DAT score of 17 or below may fall below the cutoff of certain schools, and they won't even look at your app or your credentials.

Good luck, friend.

No chance.

Kidding, your extracurricular definitely make you stand out. You should be fine, however, take note of which schools place high emphasis on DAT scores (like Columbia) so you can plan accordingly.

Hey

All your credentials with research and volunteer work sound awesome. Great points on your application and things to brag about during an interview. Although, I'll agree with the post above that I really can't say anything until you take the DAT. I was once told my a dental school administrator that "everything else" besides your DAT scores and GPA is "icing on a cake". As long as you have a good DAT score, especially if all your scores are in the 20's I'd say you have a really good shot. It would also depend on your science gpa. Your overall gpa is about average maybe slightly less, because many competitive appplicants have a GPA of 3.7-3.8 +. A lot of factors go into it but I can tell you that everything else looks good. Just put all your focus on taking the DAT and doing well you should have no problem.
