As far as math, I started at pre-algebra and went all the way to calculus.

Do I have to list Pre algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra on my classes/grades?

If I do, it would help.. theyre all A's...

Or is it just College algebra and up?

list every single class you took in college.

or that you have AP credit for, or that you took while enrolled concurrently at a JC while in high school. If any of those apply.

Hm. I dunno, that doesnt seem fair to others who started out at, say, Trignonometry. They had less opportunities to get A's. Like Pre-algebra through college algebra = 4.0 and trig/calc = 3.0 so overall ~3.7

On the other hand, if one started out at trig then took calc and got B's too, they'd have a 3.0 flat

Don't worry about what's fair just be happy 😀

Did you take all these classes while in college? If so, they all get listed.

Yes I did. Those were at a community college though. Not sure if that matters.

I took algebra I and II at a cc and it did not count because they were not at college level. The grades were on my transcript, but not calculated in my GPA.

weren't factored in by amcas or your cc?

I thought all math courses counted..? how is college algebra not college level?

My cc, or the four years I'm applying to. I don't know about amcas.

I took intermediate algebra which was below college level at a cc and it didn't transfer to my 4 year, but the good news (if you did well) is that AMCAS counts all classes.
College level is usually pre-calc/trig or higher.

After intermediate algebra I took "college and matrix algebra" which is college level and did transfer to the 4 year school.

That's weird since they are high school classes. Works for me.

Yea, I should have used "elementary and intermediate algebra" instead of I and II. Obviously there are some complicated higher level algebra courses in college. They usually have an indicator of such though...contemporary algebra, matrix algebra, etc.

No such thing as an easy math course in college

oh, i guess its good i started from pre-calc 😀

It seems it would have been better if you started at a lower level actually. More A's for your cGPA and sGPA for med school.

It doesnt count if you transfer to a 4 year uni, but who cares about that.

I took an autoshop class in high school that I got dual college credit for. If that counts then so should math.

I was supposed to, i started with honors math, freshman semester, decided that i don't like writing papers about math, tried dropping the class.. as a naive freshman thinking it will go through, DECLINED, ugly F on transcript. The only reason i got an F was because i stopped going to class assuming that the request to drop it would be honored...Took the placement test and just got put into pre-calc, i dont like math, when its done, i am happy. :meanie:
