Do I have to report being on Academic Probation to the AMCAS? (PLEASE READ)

This is not the type of academic probation you get put on for failing classes (I did fine). However, during my first year, I didn't take the right sequence of classes towards my engineering degree fulfillment. I was put on academic probation. However, I later took the proper courses and I was taken off academic probation.

In my opinion, I don't think it was a serious thing. I just took the classes I was supposed to but a little out of order. I didn't fail anything at all - or do badly. What do you guys think? Thanks ^^

There is no spot on AMCAS for academic probation. IIRC, it only asks about misdemeanors and convicted crimes. This would show up on the secondary and if the criterion on the secondary match your scenario, then you would have to report it. Though, the secondaries usually give you a spot that allows you to explain yourself. Sooooooo, you're fine...

Probation is an institutional action and it MUST be reported. That said, it will not play into a decision to offer you an interview or admission.

Are you absolutely sure it doesn't play into a decision to offer me interview or admission? I mean if I was an adcom, I definitely wouldn't want a student with any black marks on his/her record.

However, I wouldn't really consider what I have a "black mark." I mean, I didn't do badly on anything...to be honest, I don't think I did anything wrong at all. But then again, my opinion doesn't matter.

You already have academic probation, which is an institutional action, so yes, you have to report it. People get in with one

ETA: My point is that you already have the academic probation. AMCAS asks if you have ever had one, so you already have to say "Yes". Your emphasis at this point should not be "Oh noes, I have this academic probation" but rather on improving your app and making sure that nothing else comes up that might be construed as a red flag. If you do that, this little blip on the radar won't be a big deal at all. You'll have room to explain what happened on your application

if it was just taking classes out of sequence, and you rectified the issue however the school required, you can explain that in a single sentence. I think you're fine
