during my gap year I want to start on an online MBA degree. Will I have to show my masters transcript to med schools that I apply to or can I just keep it to myself and just do it on the side? I do not plan on completing it before med school.

You have to submit every college+ level transcript you've ever had. This includes dual credit from HS, schools you've transferred from/did not complete your degree from, schools you did a summer semester at, and schools you are currently attending.

If you do not include it and the COM finds out, they may rescind your acceptance.

Is there a reason you want to keep it to yourself?

If you don't enroll until after you submit your med school application, you won't need to include it on the Primary application that goes out to your school list. But later in the season you will have to submit an original transcript to the one med school to which you will matriculate prior to starting there.

From page 12 of the AMCAS Application Guide:
"Colleges
In this section, list every postsecondary institution where you were enrolled for at least one course,
even if the credits were transferred, no credit was earned, or you withdrew."

Some med schools give the direction that if you are participating in an advanced degree program, you must submit a letter from your grad school advisor.

I wanted to keep it to myself so I didnt have to worry so much about grades earned in that program.

Yeah, I'm not sure hiding it is a good idea. Also, if you absolutely want an MBA, you would definitely have to finish it before starting med school. Med school is a full time job and then some. I'm not sure how much your MBA is going to run you personally, but from what I understand, many are in the $100,000 range. You won't have time in med school or in residency or in fellowship... if you don't finish before you matriculate, you probably never will and you're basically throwing money away :/ but in the end, I guess it's up to you! Good luck either way 🙂
