Do I need to report a post-acceptance traffic ticket?

I was pulled about an hour ago for an expired inspection sticker. Do I need to send an email to my accepted/waitlisted/deferred schools? Certiphi's already complete. Thanks in advance!

Nope.

You must be bloody joking...
I swear the questions I see sometimes on this board make me really wonder if OP is a troll, or genuinely concerned that a traffic ticket would keep him out of med school.

Come on man (or woman, or whatever you identify)

Yikes man, I didn't say or imply the above. I just asked if we're supposed to inform schools if this happens; seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me.

I don't think it's that bad of a question, especially since some secondaries ask specifically for it (I.e. Vermont).

I'd probably report it to be safe. Can't really hurt you.

You might as well report that jaywalking warning just to be safe

No. It's a traffic ticket. Reporting it is 100% unnecessary so why bother. It's extra effort for OP, extra mail for admissions offices, and a waste of time.

Again, it's a freaking traffic ticket.

You're probably right, and in fact I largely agree with you... But you can't say things like "100%" when there are schools that in fact hold something like that against you. Just my respectful 0.02

Check your local laws. Many traffic violations (including expired tags) are misdemeanors here in Nevada. I would certainly think you should report a misdemeanor to be on the safe side. I had one that I reported during application time and it was brought up once and laughed about. Better to be safe than sorry, however.

No valid registration (which is what I believe you are referring to), is a misdemeanor in many (if not most) states. If it is a misdemeanor in the state that you received the citation, then per AMCAS you are obligated to report it, and it will show up on your criminal background checks.

All it takes is an update letter to the school. They will put it in your file and you will never have to worry about a skeleton in your past.

Time to pay up!

As someone who can sympathize with you, as I'm in the same scenario, best thing to do is be completely transparent about it. It won't hurt. Pay the fine and be on your way.

OP, I know you're not trolling, so please take everybody's insults with a grain of salt. Cyber bullying exists even in anonymity (perhaps more so).
