MCAT: 507. 128,123,128,128
GPA: 3.7 cumulative. Transferred to a new school for my second year of college, graduated summa cum laude with a 3.94 GPA. My freshman year I had three C's and a B.
EC's: 2,000+ hours of scribing. Worked full time as a scribe/MA while studying for the MCAT at a general practice. Worked in emergency department as a scribe prior to that.

Should I retake the MCAT? I am applying to MD schools only.
Depends on your state of residence, but in general yes you probably will need to bump it up to at least 510 if you're only looking at MD schools.

With a 507 MCAT (4 basis points below the national median) and a 123 CARS (< 10th %ile for all MD school's acceptees), you will need to have DO schools on your list, as beggars can't choosy.

As of right now, you are competitive for:
Drexel (maybe)
U VM (maybe)
Gtown (maybe)
Miami
NYMC
Rush
Albany
Temple
Tulane
Wayne State
Netter
SLU
VCU
EVMS
Hackensack Meridian
Rosy Franklin
Loma Linda (only if you are SDA or a very devout Christian)
Loyola
MCW
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
WVU if from the Appalachians
Your state school(s).

Any DO program. Include UNECOM if you’re from the NE, OSUCOM if you’re from the Plains states and PacNW if you’re from that region. I can't recommend ARCOM, RVU, Nova, BCOM, ICOM and LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide. LMU has an accreditation warning, which concerns me. CUHS is too new and appears to be too limited in rotations sites. Avoid those new schools that haven't graduated a class yet, if at all possible.

Hi everyone, I applied this cycle and I was able to get 4 MD interviews that have turned into 4 waitlists. I will list my stats and extracurriculars below but the biggest points I could improve upon in my opinion are getting some primary care shadowing and increasing my non clinical volunteering hours. I also submitted by application later- most of my secondaries where completed in mid to late September. During this past year I was able to slightly gain some clinical volunteering hours as well as complete a good amount of research, but I am not sure if this is a good enough gain to reapply immediately. I would greatly appreciate some input whether it is worth reapplying right now or to wait for the next cycle. Thank you for any feedback.

Stats:
-ORM
-Illinois resident
-cGPA: 3.87
-sGPA: 3.9
-MCAT: 511 (128/127/127/129), I took it this past August

Clinical volunteering:
-Around 280 hours assisting in procedures at surgical center

Nonclinical:
-150 hours helping set up activities for residents at nursing home

Shadowing:
-80 hours-- only shadowing internal medicine specialists, did not shadow any primary care physicians

Research:
-Around 800 hours of clinical research
-Have 4 abstracts published, three of which were first author
-Presented numerous first author posters at national medical conferences
-Working on patenting a medical device
Can you help breakdown how much of this was present on your app last year to help us gauge how much you've improved your app, and give us a school list? Honestly you hit most of the benchmarks now IMO for ECs that I would expect you to get an acceptance if your school list is OK, but maybe it wasn't strong enough a year ago.
