I'm a nontrad student that graduated with a B.S in finance and management about 4 years ago. Eventually, I decided to go back to school for a career change and was looking to do something in healthcare. I started out as pre-nursing but as I continued with classes I eventually wanted to go to DO school instead. That was over a year ago and I never ended up changing my major. Will the DO schools see that I was in pre-nursing or does this not even matter?

It doesn't matter. You know you just need to complete the required prereqs for medical school, right? You don't need to get another degree.

Med schools couldn't care less if your degree is in dance or basketweaving.

I'd change out of nursing.

At my school's nursing program it's very rigorous. That will leave you with less time for classes that will make you look better to adcoms, ie histology and physiology, biochem etc.

As mentioned before, they could care less what your major is, but more about what coursework you complete. Upper level biologies would be favored over the courses you will be taking, in my opinion.

Hey.. In my undergrad I majored in Business Administration and Marketing.. When the medical bug bit me I went to a college in my city and took all of my pre-med science requirements along with microbio while working on my ECs.. I got accepted. You can too.

I'd just switch out of nursing and take the pre reqs and some other upper levels like micro, biochem, immunology or the like and you'll be gtg

Definitely switch out of nursing. People have gotten grilled at interviews as to why abandoning nursing for medicine. It's the one major that won't affect your chances explicitly but will make your interviewing and intentions questioned much harder.

Does it say "pre-nursing" anywhere on your transcript? If so, I'd probably change it. If not, it doesn't matter. At the university I attend, "pre-nursing" is not a major per se; the official major is usually biology or general studies.
