Hi everyone,
When I looked at prerequisite courses of some pharmacy school, most of them don't require anatomy class.
But I wonder if I need to take anatomy class to take PCAT? I mean does Pcat has section related to anatomy?
This fall I'll be sophomore in college. I've just taken chem 1, bio 1 and calculus. I take chem 2 this fall.
Do I need to take more science classes in spring to speed up my preparation for PCAT?.

I intend to apply for pharmacy school in fall 2011.
When should I prepare for PCAT? And when should I register to take PCAT test?
Thank you in advance to everyone who replies.

the bio section tends to have some questions relating to anatomy, but if you know the basics you can usually guess at the correct answer.

take upper level science courses if you can handle it with everything else going on. if you do well in them, it will be impressive, but if you just take a bunch of hard courses and not do so well, it can look like you take on more than you can handle.

i'd say start taking the pcat during the summer up to the january test date of the school year when you're applying to pharmacy school. as for studying for the pcat, take practice tests and then figure out your weaknesses and get textbooks for those areas and read through. the pcat review books are usually for refreshing your memory once you have learned it in class, so if you haven't, it's better to read from an actual textbook.

My class had A&P I and II. I found them both really helpful for the PCAT. You don't have to take them but I think having a solid foundation will help you reason out some answers that you otherwise would have trouble with. I'm not sure how many points it will raise your PCAT but I'm finding those classes helpful for pharm school as well. I recommend taking them but not if it is going to wreck your GPA.

You should take your gen bio, gen chem, and one semester of organic chem before you take the PCAT. Micro, A&P, organic chemistry II is helpful but not necessary. If you are going to take the exam next summer/fall, you should take more science classes this spring.
