Do I need to take USMLE step 2?

Looking to see if I need to take step 2 for residency. If I decided to do sports med one day, would not having a step 2 hurt me since it’s importance is increasing and will continue to in the coming years.


Step 1: 250
Level 1: 652

Interested in FM residency programs in the South East: ETSU, MAHEC, etc.

Wait, do you mean take step two at all ever or take it before interviews?

Because you have to take step 2 before you can have a medical license or usually graduate from medical school.

It is not required for interviews.

Meaning taking it at all. I’m a DO so I know level 2 is a must but step 2 is not.
