Question in the title. Just trying to plan my camping and backpacking for the summer.
Righteous. Will only ever be a night or two. Our 3 day trips pass through Seattle, Portland, and Boise on the second nights so there is service for a mid-road check up.As I tell all applicants, applying to medical school is a full time job from May thru at least August, if not September. If you are planning trips that may leave you without internet access for more than a few days, the best advice is dont!
Secondaries, unfortunately, do not discriminate between weekdays and weekends. I received plenty of secondaries over the weekend last cycle. However, missing the email for a night or two wouldn't be a big deal imho. But, that is for you to decide. I wouldn't plan on trips until August [as mentioned above] if I were in your shoes.Question in the title. Just trying to plan my camping and backpacking for the summer.
Looks like I didn’t get anything new over this weekend so that’s Cush.Secondaries, unfortunately, do not discriminate between weekdays and weekends. For “first interview” slots (Late August and predominantly early September) do y’all think I will be fine by doing like anything I get Saturday on Sunday night? I am pretty much planning on 24-48 hour turnaround times (I prewrote pretty much everything that has been the same year-on-year).
24-48 hours is beyond good. When I applied, my rule of thumb was 1-2 week turnaround. Obviously, my higher yield schools were quicker (i.e. in-state took me 1-4 days). I pre-wrote as well but some of the actual secondaries were different questions. And I got a little backed up lol.Looks like I didn’t get anything new over this weekend so that’s Cush.

Do you know if early interview slots and interview invites tend to fill up pretty quickly (assuming I am lucky enough to get a shot at them)?24-48 hours is beyond good. Homie, I didn't get interviews until mid-December so in my experience the early spots fill up rather quickly. Early interviews are luck of the draw I suppose. You have to be reviewed early (some schools don't review in the order secondaries are received) and liked by multiple faculty for them to pull the trigger on you instead of them putting you in the "maybe later" pile (that's how I imagine it goes down haha). You seem like a fantastic applicant, so I think the sky's the limit for ya. However, I wouldn't worry if it gets later in the cycle and you haven't heard (I don't think this will be the case for you though).Do you know if early interview slots and interview invites tend to fill up pretty quickly (assuming I am lucky enough to get a shot at them)?
Oh yeah! I can definitely see them changing around. I only pre-wrote 11 of my schools because they haven’t change their essays in the last three years. However, if the other schools in applying to are like the secondary I did on Friday, copypasta and reformat should be pretty easy!
Thanks for the encouragement! I really hope you are right, I just don’t want to much interference with classes in Fall quarter. But honestly Interviews >>>>> Keeping 4.0 senior year. So, like yah...doesn’t even matter for later in the cycle. Again, thanks for tolerating premed neuroticism!Homie, I didn't get interviews until mid-December so in my experience the early spots fill up rather quickly.
