I'm feeling not-so confident in my ability to get a 510+. I don't want to risk getting a 505 or a 506 because this is my second time taking this godforsaken exam and I don't want to take it until I'm ready. My scores haven't been where I want them to be and I don't think I'm ready for the 8/25 exam.

I would postpone. You're not ready to get that kind of score at all. I don't know how long you've been studying, but you may want to shift your goals. Seems a 505 or a 506 would be well above your average.

Thank you for the feedback.

Take your AAMC scored before you make a decision.

If I do take the scored, what score should I be looking for in order to keep my current test date? 510+?

I would say if you get a 510 on the scored, you can feel pretty good about getting at least a 510, but a 512 would increase my confidence that you would score >510.

Definitely post-pone, especially if this is your second time taking the test. If you don't get the score you're looking for, you might have to take it a 3rd time..and med schools won't look too kindly at a 3rd MCAT score. 2 MCAT scores is not too bad, but try not to have 3. It seems like you're taking a pretty late MCAT anyways and prob won't be applying this year, I would definitely take a couple/few more months until you can get 510+ consistently and then go take the test. Good luck!
