Do Interships Help?

Hello everyone,

Im currently in my first year engineering program at my uni (canada) and I am hoping to get into chemical engineering. During the program, I will most likely be doing engineering internships.

I also hope to get into Dental School afterwards. My question is, will these internships count/look good on my application?

I dont really have any ECs yet. Would Internships/Shadowing be considered just as good as any normal ECs? (Clubs, volunteering).

But should I still volunteer during the summers? I guess I should as it doesnt hurt, but I just want to know how well an engineering intern will look on the application.

I would look for shadowing/internship at dental offices if your end goal is dental schools. Trust me, I had some 1000+ hours logged for shadowing and another 3000+ for working part time at an office and it helped tremendously for my applications.
