...even if I'm not applying to any MD/PhD programs? I want to take the GRE as a safety net. What I'm wondering is, will AMCAS or any medical school for that matter get my GRE scores or know that I took the test? What I'm thinking is that medical schools that see I'm taking the GRE for another reason other than MD/PhD would think I'm not as committed to medicine as I should be...but I truly am.

Opinions please, thanks so much.

You choose to report the score on AMCAS. You type it in yourself I think. So if it's something you want to exclude... I think you can.

I didn't report mine.

Mine confirmed my MCAT and were slightly better than my MCAT (both with about the 90th percentile or slightly higher), so I included my GRE scores, including a subject test. I figured it couldn't hurt. The scores are older, so it's not like it says "is not really committed to medical school" -- I'm pretty sure my ECs lay to rest any semblance of doubt about my goals.

Well, the people taking the GRE's aren't pre-meds, are they? 😛

Honestly, I don't think the exams were that difficult in difficulty level. They were different in many ways, but the MCAT is, in some sense, overrated and the pre-med curriculum is way overrated.

That said, there is absolutely nothing on the GRE that is learned after high school.
