I have a question about MCAT scores:

When applying to medical school is it possible to submit a single score or will my application show all of my MCAT scores?

I'm a freshman and I'm considering taking the MCAT my sophomore year. By the time I take it I will have finished gen bio, gen chem, physics and 1/2 of Ochem.

I'm totally pumped to take the test, but I don't want to take the test before I'm completely ready if med schools can see my full MCAT history.

all scores are immediately released to AMCAS (the MD application service minus TX schools).

the DO app service requires that you send in your scores on your own. There are options of sending a full report vs. sending a partial report. If you send a partial report, I would think that AdComs would assume the worst.

There is nothing wrong with having a low score, but it is recommended to only take the MCAT when you are good and ready to do so. Since you are only a freshman, you might think about delaying the test until your junior year...and possibly incorporate MCAT_Study_Time as part of your ECs/Curriculum in the semester before the MCAT.

So MD schools will see all scores?
some schools look at all of your schools and take the highest score you received in each section (GWU comes to mind, not sure if they still do this). If you have an MSAR some of the schools report this in their data.

Yes, all of your scores will be seen by medical schools. You can take the MCAT at the end of your sophmore year if you feel fully prepared. Before you do take the MCAT, just make sure that you have completed all of your pre-reqs. I firmly believe that one should not take the MCAT if the pre-reqs haven't been completed.

So... is it really true that when applying to Osteopathic Schools, you have the option to do this partial report and send the scores you choose to send? Am I interpreting this correctly?

I ask because I did poorly on the January MCAT and would rather apply with an MCAT blank sheet, than risk judgment (and possible rejection) before taking the MCAT again in August.

No, AAMC requires that you send all scores to DO schools. If you go to option for sending partial scores, it won't show you DO school option (AACOMAS), so you just have to send all scores to them!! Hope that helps!!!
