Do they see first semester senior year grades when you are applying?

What about after you get in? Do most request fall and spring semester Senior year grades?

Bump. Really, guys, how good do Senior Fall Semester grades have to be? The consensus on Spring Semester seems to be "no C's," but what about Fall?

Consider the outcome if you slack off as a senior and don't end up getting in this cycle.

It's happened to SDNers before.

Until you have an acceptance do everything assuming you won't get in and will have to try again.

You have to submit new transcripts upon completion of your final year of college. Or at least I did.

So yes. They'll want transcripts and they'll see your grades.

Agreed. Hypothetically speaking, though, schools don't explicitly ask for Fall grades before accepting you, do they? At least not before the "waitlist season" in May+, that is.

You cannot update your amcas app with new grades, so during the application / interview cycle they really can't see any grades after you submit your primary.

Some students optionally send additional transcripts to medical schools as new grades arrive, but I have never heard of a medical school requiring this during the cycle.

Before you matriculate you have to send your one medical school your final transcripts one last time.

And yes, if you really bomb your senior year, getting C's and stuff, a medical school could rescind an acceptance. Very very rare, but it does happen.

I have with someone that the school was iffy, and felt like it would help them make a decision. It was someone a couple years ago on SDN.

They don't see your grades unless you send them your transcript in an update letter, or when you're sending your final transcript to your chosen school over the summer before matriculation.

I think someone said this above, but continue to do well until you have an acceptance in hand, and then it's okay to dial it back a bit. Until you have an acceptance, study as if you have to reapply.

Thanks! So what I'm understanding here is this:

1) When you are applying, schools never see your fall semester senior year grades unless you either update them or if they ask for it (which they never really do, right)?

2) After you are accepted, you need to send them the final transcript. That's when they see all your grades.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
