Good question! The answer to that is "No". I myself am an African-American and have really been involved in the application process for the last 2 years with MULTIPLE pt programs (calling admissions departments, speaking with faculty, talking to current students). You application is based strictly off of your numbers (GPA, pre-req GPA, hours). The top candidates who have the highest scores get interviews/accepted. In my opinion, I like that it is like that. I recently got accepted to U of Saint Augustine and will be starting in January. Being African American, now that I think of it, it feels alot better knowing that I got in because I was highly qualified and not because of my ethnicity. Hope this answers your question. Keep striving to achieve high grades/scores. There is not many minorities in the profession and hopefully that changes in the near future.
