I've always wondered why most dermatologists seem to only work 4 days a week. Anecdotally, I would say >80% from my experience do this. I know that many dermatologists might not want to work anymore if the average salary is already 400k+, but does anyone have thoughts on other reasons?

That is simply the culture in dermatology

Somewhere along the line, dermatologists found a 4 day work week is the best balance between lifestyle, income, and not burning out.

Similar to how most anesthesiologists, hospitalists, ED physicians, etc have similar scheduling styles/quirks within their specialties.
