What can an above average DO student during preclinical year, and get a USMLE 230, match into if they have no research, no extra curriculars? Assuming everything else is on point.

Probably most everything except surgical subspecialties, radiation oncology, and derm. I imagine Gen surgery should be fine, especially if you have former AOA programs in your application, though plenty of DOs seem to have had good outcomes with 230s on this forum.

I think the easier question is what can't you match into. You can potentially match into anything that would have formerly been AOA, though no research will make derm, ortho, and neurosurgery harder. Not as sure about ACGME, some of residents/MDs can give you more details, but I'd say a lot of academic programs are probably going to be a no go as will derm, ENT, Uro, ortho, neurosurg, plastics and probably IR, ophtho, and surgery. Any ideas what you're considering?
Agree with others. If your goal is to match somewhere with good LORs, clinical grades, a strategic application list, etc. you could potentially match into any field with the exception of the surgical subspecialties.
