I just had my first interview on Monday and I didn't think to send a thank you email until my parents said something about it. I thought it was more for job interviews and I was wondering how many of you sent a thank you email after interviewing at an OT school and if it makes an impact on an admissions decision. Thanks

I do! Even if it doesn't make or break a decision, it shows professionalism. Being invited for an interview is not a guarantee so it's definitely a nice thing to thank them for considering you.

I sent some out because they took time out of their day to interview. It's also a good time to ask follow up questions if you have them.

Ha! I'm definitely old school - I bought a pack of thank you cards from Target and sent one after my interview.
There are so many people applying these days, I figure any little thing you can do to stand out might help your overall chances...I don't think it would make that much of an impact on the admissions process, but for $1 and five minutes of your time, it just might be icing on the cake.

Are you guys sending emails to every member of the faculty, or only those you interviewed with? I met a lot of the faculty at my recent interview, but was interviewed by 4, so I'm conflicted on whether to A) send each of the 4 people an individual email thanking them, B) sending each of the 4 a hand-written thank you, C) sending a general thank you BCC email to all of the faculty that I know I met. My interview was on Saturday, so I don't want to wait much longer to send it!

Whether you're interviewing for school or a job, ALWAYS follow up with a thank-you email as soon as you possibly can; same day is completely appropriate, and I would send an individual email to each person you interviewed with, if you have their contact information. Following with a handwritten note is also a nice touch depending on the organization; you might look antiquated if you were applying for a job at a tech firm, but I feel it's definitely fine for academia, and I suspect most healthcare jobs, since we're all about collaboration and personalized client care.
