Do programs take the highest GRE scores, average them, etc?

Does anyone know which GRE score a school will look at if you take the test multiple times? The newest set, will they take the highest of each...? For example, the first time I took it I did very well for the Q section and poor on the V section, however, the second time I took it my Q score was lower but V score higher.

Thanks

They see them all, so unless your score goes up significantly the second time it doesn't help you to have multiple scores. I guess some schools might only "use" the most recent score, but they all show up on the score report from ETS. If a score is 5+ years old, it might disappear after that but I'm not sure.

Depends on the school. The poster above is right that the programs will get all your scores. Some take the highest, some take the most recent, some average the two. You should check with each school.

This is good to know! Hmm. Hopefully I don't blow it my first try 🙁
