Do pubs from gap year(s) matter for residency apps?

I am on 3-4 publications from my time as a research tech in a basic science neurosurgical lab during a gap year. I am not a top 3 author on any of them. Do these matter at all?

Absolutely. Not as much as a first author, and probably not as beneficial as something you did this year, but they still count and are looked upon favorably.
