Do Research courses count towards science gpa?

There seems to be a discrepancy in what people tell me and I'm not getting a definite answer..do research courses at a medical center count towards the science gpa? My school has this thing called independent research where you're pretty much on your own, learning laboratory techniques, reading/writing lots of science research papers, etc. But the course was under the immunology listing, i'm not sure how I would go about listing that on amcas? I'm guessing it should be listed as a science course but some people in my school tell me it wouldnt? 😕

Immuno is under BIOL which is BCPM
