when reapplying...amcas keeps all the info you have submitted the previous cycle. i think you just have to reenter your coursework.
as far as whether schools keep your apps(secondaries)...Schools have your old applications on file. You must still submit new secondaries. A lot of schools will pull out your old file and compare it to your new one to see if you made any changes. They will also compare essays. As a reapplicant schools want to see some sort of improvement that makes you a better candidate for medical school. The best way to convey that is through your essays.

One of the schools I reapplied to called me and wanted to make sure that I was the same person - "Did you apply last year too? We have two files with your name on them and can't figure out why..."

I know for a fact that Saint Louis does. At my interview, my interviewer was going through all the material they had on me including last years stuff. He even told me that he found it odd that I was not invited for an interview last year. I'm sure that this is probably the case at many schools, though they still require you to send everything over again. That's why its also important to look at everything you did and try to make improvements in every single little area.
