Do they ever consider an applicant's interest in their school by how often the applicant checks the portal? I think a school would rather take the applicant who is keeping tabs on their app over the one who never checks, all else being equal. do you suggest logging into each portal at least once per day? sorry if being neurotic

You're on the right track, but I feel that you're not trying hard enough, OP. This is what you should do.

Drive up to the admissions office (distance is no object), sit incognito in the lobby area till the end of the day, and then follow the adcom of your choice home where you sit outside his/her house and serenade them with your secondary essay and an accordion. Extra points if bring a poop hotdog for dinner.

If that doesn't work, I honestly don't know what will.

Please report back to us with deets.🙂😉

No but I heard from an MS2 that emailing the admissions office everyday saying how much you love the school is how you really show interest in the school.

Ever since Mayo-MN rejected me I email them everyday posing with different types of Mayo. I really hope they reverse their decision soon my fridge is almost exclusively filled with mayo it's getting gross but I'm dedicated #mayo #thatrochestorlyfe #mayoallovermybody

Take two of these please.

Med schools are not omnipotent.

SDN can be so funny at times lmao

Adcoms are too busy to check how many times you logged into the portal. Chill there.

PREMED : Psychotic Reactionary Event Manifestation Exclusionary Disorder

A disorder that is a psychotic reaction to the events around applying to medical schools that manifests itself in the exclusion of rational thought. Seemingly highly intelligent, high achieving students are most susceptible to this disorder. Loss of major rational thought and reactions to unsubstantiated beliefs, rumors, innuendos, and other irrational and illogical cognitive processes. A form of collective behavior.

This is actually the second stage of the recently proposed disorder for DSM-VI known as Application Submission Syndrome or ASS. People suffering from this malady have an overriding sense of powerlessness and cognitive dissonance with obsessively reviewing in minute detail of the their application and hypothetically projecting worries, scenarios, and other delusional thoughts based on rumor, innuendo, myth, and whatever other misinformation they may acquire. In short, they can make an ASS of themselves. There is no treatment that has any effectiveness as most suffering it have a temporary loss of rational reasoning. On occasion, these can lead to critical episodes which may require restraints and sedation. For further information on this see

Thanks for the info!

Do you think I should email them and apologize for my screen name or is it too late for me?

You forgot the part where they make a large shrine dedicated to said adcom and make sure you bake them cookies or something along those lines. How you gonna show up not bearing any consumable gifts??

Did you not catch the poop hotdog part? Just bring enough to share.😛

They've got way better things to do with their (already strained) time.

The real question is whether they have recordings of my labored breathing as I stare, open-mouthed, at their school's website.

I think checking once every couple of weeks is not that bad of a thing, if your application materials are being processed and you want to make sure or if you are awaiting an interview notice that might not be sent through email.

It's ok, OP, I'm neurotic about a lot of things, too, at least when it comes to money.

Given the unpredictable email communication, I check daily. It takes 2 minutes. If an adcom will penalize or reward for it isn't a real concern to me, I just want to know if I have an II asap so I can schedule it before slots get taken.
