I was curious to what a school would think.
lets say i take the DAT and score bad. But the reason i score bad is because i have a few classes left.
The classes i still need to take are:

Biochem.
anatomy & physiology 1 and 2.
orgo 2.

just curious on how they analyze these exams.
thanks.

these are two separate aspects of your application
if you get a low DAT score, the excuse that you were taking classes at the same time will not make up for poor performance.

They do not correlate DAT to the courses you haven't learned yet. It should be your job to coordinate your DAT with your life and do the best on. If you do really poorly, lets say a 16 or lower.. You might not even get an interview.

I took the DAT without taking A&P 1 or 2.. I just self studied and used Khan Academy..

Side note: I am currently taking A&P my senior year upon going to dental school... It is the scariest and most difficult things I have encountered.

Different schools look at DAT scores differently. They do one of three things.
1. They look at your highest score
2. They look at all of your scores and average them.
3. They look at the highest scores for individual sections (different sections from different exams).

Many students take the DAT during college classes and perform very well. Giving the excuse that you were still in class will not suffice, and that will not affect how they look at your scores. If you think you will do badly, then wait and do it during summer/winter break or during a gap year. Also, if you are concerned with how you will perform the first time around, look at the schools that interest you and make sure they don't look at all three scores and average them.

EDIT: if you have not yet taken the courses, the outcome is the same. Doing poorly on ochem sections because you haven't finished ochem will not grant you any "leeway" with admissions.

There's barely any Biochem on the DAT. The anatomy and physiology is also extremely basic and can be self taught.
