Do schools look at your previous application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just wondering if they look at both applications, say from 2010 and 2011 assuming we are reapplying at the school?

i have no idea but that's an interesting question. maybe you could just call a few schools and ask? My guess would be yes.

We have both applications in front of us when we are considering a reapplicant. We also have the committee recommendation from the previous attempt too. We look for significant improvement in reapplicants (most people do this anyway). This is why you want to upgrade everything that is under your control (LORS, personal statement, grades and other things).

One school I contacted said they don't.

I just called AMCAS (about something else) so I asked your question, lol.

If you are applying to different schools (that you didn't submit your 2010 app to), then they will not be able to see your old app.

What about for re-applicants who never turned in a secondary last cycle?

I'm sure they at least look at the committee recommendation from last year. If you didn't even make it to the interview stage, this would be less important, but if you interviewed and were rejected/waitlisted at a school last year, I'd be willing to bet they would want to see why.
