Does anyone know which DO schools accept a lot of students from other states and which prefer in-state applicants?

Look to private schools to accept out of state more, and public schools to accept in-state more. Here is a list of schools that are most likely to accept out-of-state students, according to Dr. Pennington, the premed advisor at Baylor University.

-AZCOM
-KCOM
-DMU-COM
-UHS-Kansas City-COM
-CCOM

Schools that are likely to prefer in-state students include public schools:

Examples: TCOM, OSU-COM

UMDNJ seems to prefer in state students given that it's a public university but their numbers are difficult to interperet since everyone can get NJ resident status by filling out some paperwork. (I'm of course assuming you're from NJ based on your name)

MSU-COM definitely prefers in-state sine they are a public institution.

I have a lot of classmates from all over the US in my class at UNECOM. They do prefer students from New England or students who want to (or at least say the want to) practice in New England.

OSU-COM definately prefers in state applicants....what a waste of $$$ on the aplication...because i was out of state they didnt even bother to acknowladge it until the class was full anyways

I believe that OSU-COM holds 15% of its slots (13 of 88) for out-of-staters. They tend to be a bit pickier on the stats for out-of-staters, though. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

PCSOM likes to get students from the Appalachian region that show an interest in staying in the Appalachian region. I have several classmates from places other than KY. I am an out of state student, but grew up only about an hour from PCSOM.

I have a classmate from Utah, Illinois, several from Michigan, Virginia, Mississippi and Ohio, and one from Connecticut. So you can get accepted there from out of state, but you have to show an interest in staying in the general area. It is a great school.

I thought it was 10% (what I was told.)
