Do schools view applications chronologically?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm wondering this too. I think it is school dependent.

@Goro

A quick google search gave me this
Medical School Application TIMELINE

Keep in mind this is in an allopathic thread, however it’s probably similar among osteopathic schools.

“As I have said previously, and will undoubtedly say dozens of time during this 2018 application cycle (see count above) review of apps is not simply done in a linear chronological order. High achievers, URM, family of alumni, feeder schools, associated UG programs, linked postbaccs, and other factor may push an app forward in the process.”

Good to know. So, some of us can expect to be showered with interview invites after Dec 15th when 50% of the people in the above group drop out for various reasons.

It doesn’t mean you don’t have a shot. Most medical schools do not review applications in the order they were received in, and usually review more qualified applicants first. If you had two applicants, one with a LizzyM score of 65 who applied in August, and another with a lizzyM score of 73 who applied in September, wouldn’t you review the 73 even though it was received later? I would....it’s not all based on stats either, one applicant may have much better ECs and they decide to review him/her first.

Most of my secondaries were fully complete in July, but i’m seeing people who just got complete in September getting interviews. Does this automatically mean I have no shot for some of these schools?
Patience is a virtue

Med schools do NOT process apps chronolocally. They are are stratified by different criteria
